Calvary Baptist Church was founded in 1928, at the corner of North 18th Street and Bosque Boulevard in Waco, Texas. One of the most interesting facts about our church's founding is that it came not from a "church split" like many churches, but from two churches joining together (Brook Avenue and Provident Heights churches). We are one in the body of Christ. This year we are celebrating our 80th Birthday!

Calvary names new staff members...
Danny Steis

Calvary's youth and youth workers first got to know Danny in Wingate, North Carolina, where he served as a camp counselor for PASSPORT: Youth Camping with a Mission. It was love at first sight. Danny and his wife, Johanna, moved to Waco at the end of that summer so he could continue his schooling at Truett Seminary. Danny, a modern day renaissance man, enjoys cooking exotic foods and frying anything, playing the bass, tinkering with tools, and walking the real road of discipleship with students and friends.

Kessa Payne
Interim Minister of Small Groups kpayne@cbcwaco.com Having served closely in life group leadership for many years, Kessa is a perfect pick to serve as Interim Minister of Small Groups. Kessa has been a member of the Calvary community for 4 1/2 years. In addition to providing overall leadership to Calvary's life group ministry, Kessa serves as a deacon, plays a key role in the First Sunday Lunch ministry and along with her husband, Greg, helps to shepherd a life group.

The CBC Pastor Search committee wants to give you the opportunity to see the church profile that is being sent to pastor search candidates. You can view it online here.
